Scott Umberger MS

Scott’s passion for performance enhancement started at an early age stemmed by his desire to receive a division I scholarship. Attempting to “get the edge” on the competition, he read and tried everything that he could get his hands on. Taken under the wing of track coach Waddie Freeman his senior year of high school, Scott reduced his 40 yard dash time from 4.6 to 4.4 and ran a 6.69(FAT) 55 meter dash at the Pennsylvania Indoor Track State Championships.
Scott was a standout athlete in high school playing football, baseball, and ran track which led him to scholarship to compete at the Division I level in football and track at Robert Morris University. At the end of his college career he spent a year interning at the University of Pittsburgh under renowned coaches Buddy Morris, Tim Beltz, and Joe Collins. After college he pursued a career in the financial services business running a $100 million producing territory. All the while, he trained athletes as a side business. In 2006, with the prompting from RJ Umberger, Scott walked away from a six figure salary to pursue his true passion which is performance enhancement.
Scott spent the past two years training 500 of the athletes in Robert Morris University athletic department while serving as Todd Hammer’s assistant. Todd is considering by many as one of the best Strength Coaches in the country.
Scott will not have his athletes perform a movement/workout that he has not done first. He competes in the sport of power lifting and has dead lifted 625 and benched 420 in meets. He has also squatted 645 in the gym at a drug free body weight of 192. At 31 years of age and 25 pounds heavier than when he was in college, he still runs a 4.6 40 yards dash and has a 34 inch vertical jump. Take in mind that Scott understands that there is a clear difference in training an athlete, a power lifter, Olympic Lifter, a strongman competitor, and an MMA fighter.
Scott’s resume includes; youth, high school, college (athletes from 20 different NCAA schools), and professional athletes (MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA, World Championship Games, Arena Football,European Professional Soccer(Finnish 3rd division), and NLL), 3 All-Americans (track, swimming, hockey), a Biletnikoff Trophy Winner (top DI Football Receiver), 2 Hobe Baker Trophy Finalist (Heisman Trophy of College Hockey), 2 top 10 NCAA scorer in Men’s Hockey, 2010 US Olympic Silver Medalist(Woman’s Hockey), FINA Master World Championship Qualifying Swimmer, Olympic Hopeful Javelin Thrower, ECAC/IC4A qualifying track hurdler.
As part of his 15,000 hours of training experience, Scott has worked with over a 1,000 athletes and clients: male and female athletes in hockey, lacrosse, soccer, football, basketball, softball, baseball, swimming, tennis, track, fitness/figure competitors, golfer’s looking to shave off strokes, and average Joe’s looking to lose weight and get into shape.
With his formal education, real world success, and in trenches training experience from the gym and track he offers a unique blend of leadership, speed, strength, and explosive training knowledge to make a significant difference in athletes at all levels.
